Aliboufier

The aliboufier is the common noun of the Styrax officinalis , a shrub of the family of the Styracacées.

Use

Pline, in its Natural history , indicates that this shrub pushes in Syria. Over there, he says, one makes use of it like Parfum and to put the Serpent S in escape. One also employs it in the ancient Médecine against the Toux, the affections of throat and chest, as well as the scrofula (ignition of lymphatic ganglia present in the brain); it supports the Menstruation and the Digestion. Lastly, like many plants at Pline, it entered the composition of Antidote S against the Poison S, in particular the giant hemlock.

We use today a balsam containing styrax, which has properties Healing are and Antiseptique S.

Its resin is used for the manufacture of the Papier of Arménie.
