Ali Chariati

Ali Chariati علیشريعتی , also transcribed Ali Shariati (1933 - 1977) was a Sociologue, Philosophe and a political militant Iran IEN. It is especially known for its sociological studies on the religions.

  • 1933 : Born in March with Mazinan in the North-East from the Iran.

  • 1957 : decree with 16 other members of the M.R.N with Machhad.
  • 1959 : Obtaining a grant in France, elected like better studying License at letters (1958), the beginning of collaboration in Paris with the F.L.N
  • 1960: Knowledge of Pennon and translation of an anthology of its work.
  • 1961 : Political activities within the national-democratic opposition and the confederation of the Iranian students, publication of a newspaper “Free Iran” of Front National and its theoretical body “the Thought of the Face” where it introduces Fanon for the first time in the revolutionary literature Persian; arrest in Paris following the manifestation of the students in front of the embassy of Belgium at the time of the martyrdom of Patrice Lumumba, on January 17th, dialogs with Guioze (intellectual Togolese) with the prison of the City.
  • 1962 : Study and research in Sociology and history of the religions, follow the courses of Massignon, Berque and Georges Gurvitch, become acquainted with Jean-Paul Sartre and the French intellectual medium, publication in Iran of the “Occidentalité” of Jalal Al-Ahmad.
  • 1965 - 1972: Professor of history at the University of Machhad, after one period of teaching in the schools, publication of its intimate books “Desert” and of its “Islamologie”, a series of speech and conference through the country and the Universities and especially in Teheran in the arts center and religious of Hosseiniyeh Ershâd, closed by the old mode (at the request of the preserving clergy), prohibition of publication and any public intervention.
  • 1963 : Obtaining an arts Doctorate to the Sorbonne under the direction of Gilbert Lazard.
  • 1964 : Return in Iran, decree at the border and imprisoned with Teheran.
  • 1973 - 1975: Detention for 18 months by the SAVAK, political police of the Shah, in the cells of insulation, release after the agreements of Algiers and house arrest.
  • 1977 : May 17th, 1977, after having succeeded in leaving Iran under its second family name, his wife, taken as an hostage, is seen prohibited of exit to the airport. The Shariati June 19th is assassinated by Savak with Southampton in England.

Generally regarded as the ideologist of the Iranian Revolution, he was not criticized less by it by the Mollah S which show it laicism and of Occidentalisme.
