Ali Ben Yusuf (Wattasside)

`Alî Ben Yûsuf succeeded his uncle Abû Zakarîyâ Yahyâ like Vizier and Régent watasside of the sultan mérinide Abû Muhammad `Abd Al-Haqq in 1448. He died in 1458. The son of his predecessor Yahyâ  ben  Abî  Zakarîyâ  Yahyâ succeeded to him.

Biography

The Sultan is yet only nine years old when `Alî Ben Yûsuf takes the post of vizier and regent of the kingdom.

After the catch of Constantinople by Othoman Turkish in 1453, the king of Portugal Alphonse V had prepared an army for the departure in crusade with the call of the pope. He finally prefers to turn over his force against Ksar-are-Seghir a small port located between Tangier and Ceuta. He manages to take the place (1458).
