Ali Ben Hammud Al-Nasir

`Alī Ben Hammud “Al-Nāsir” Arabic (: الناصرعليبنحمود ), was an emir of Malaga and Algeciras of 1010 with 1018, then caliph de Cordoue of 1016 at 1018. It was wire of Hammud, and was assassinated in 1018.

Owner of the fortified towns of Tangier, Algeciras and Ceuta, and benefitting from the weakness of the caliphs ommeyades of Cordoue, it proclaimed himself independent of the caliphate and seized Malaga.

Then it moved towards Cordoue to the head of an important army, accompanied by his brother Al-Qâsîm. The caliph Sulayman quickly was overcome, made captive then put at death. Ali proclaimed caliph then the July 7th 1016. Initially popular because of its spirit of justice, its severity led the population to the revolt, and he was assassinated in March 1018.
