Alfredo Wagner
Alfredo Wagner is a city Brésil ienne of the State of Santa Catarina.
Geography
Alfredo Wagner is located at a Latitude 27º 42 ' 00" south and with a Longitude of 49º 20 ' 02" west, with a Altitude of 480 meters.Its population was of: 9752 inhabitants with the census of 2007. The rural area of the municipality gathered 72% of the population (given IBGE, 2000). The municipality extends on 732 km ².
The city accounts for 111 km in the west of the capital of the State, Florianópolis. It belongs to the Microrégion de Tabuleiro, in the Région of Large Florianópolis.
The municipality enjoys a wet climate, at the fresh summers. The average annual temperature is there of 17,7°C.
Its IDH was of 0,778 in 2000 (UNDP).
History
On order of the viceroy of the time, Luís de Vasconcelos E Sousa, the governor Jose Pereira Pinto sends a forwarding ordered by António Jose da Costa to recognize for the first time the area in 1787.The first inhabitants of the area, colonel Serafim Muniz de Moura and some close relations, arrive towards 1840 and are established on banks of the Rio Itajaí C Sul, in the current locality of villa C Catuira . Another historical version recalls the history of this colonel and some soldiers, who would have settled not far from the top of the morro C Trombudo . However, these companies will not be crowned success because of the abundance of Neige and Pluie which overpowers the area at the time and obliges the colonists to be withdrawn.
In 1853, the emperor Pierre II of Brazil creates the “military colony of Santa Tereza” (in homage to the empress Marie-Therese), halfway between the seat of the province, Florianópolis, and the town of Lages inside the grounds. This colony was to be used as station of penetration for the farm and barrier against the incursions of the Indians.
In 1890, Augusto Lima, arriving in the military colony, is established not far from the Adaga rivers and Caeté, accompanied by some colonists. The locality is called then Barracão - the first name of Alfredo Wagner. It becomes district of Bom Retiro in 1956.
The current name is a homage to Alfredo Henrique Wagner, one of the men who contributed actively to the independence of the municipality, dismembered Bom Retiro the December 21st 1961.
Economy
The economy of the city is based on the Agriculture. The principal culture is that of the Oignon, which contributes for 45% of the incomes of the municipality, with an annual production of: 64000 tons.
Tourism
One of attractions of the municipality is the reserve Rio das Furnas , in the locality of São Leonardo, the solid mass of the Serra back Faxinais , left the Serra Geral. It comprises many Cascade S and Grotte S which one can visit.
Culture
Every years, in October, the municipality commemorates the first attempt at colonization of the area, works of 19 soldiers, by the “festival of Barracão”.A local legend tells the history of a group of soldiers which, fleeing repression following the federalistic Révolution, passed in the area in 1893. One of the soldiers, patient, lost the group of sight and will be found only several days, frozen later. Its tomb, high on the place of its death, is very attended by the inhabitants who believe in his vertues miraculous.
Lastly, the archaeological museum of Lomba Alta, recalls the history of the area with many historical objects belonging as much to the colonists who settled in the area that with the Indians who occupied it since centuries. It is established in a counterpart of the residence of Alfredo Wagner, citizen famous of the municipality, which gave him its name.
