Alfred Saker
Alfred Saker is a missionary English Baptist, born on July 21st 1814 with Wrotham (the United Kingdom) and dead on March 12th 1880 with Peckham (the United Kingdom).
Alfred Saker arrived at Douala in the mouth of Wouri in 1845. He made there build schools and churches.
He was regarded by David Livingstone as the most influential missionary of West Africa. Saker founda with the Cameroun the town of Victoria (today Limb) in 1858.
In these efforts of evangelization, it translates the Bible into Douala language. Inspired by the country, it tried to convince the British government to found a colony there.
Today, a school Baptist of Douala, the College Alfred Saker, bears his name.
