Alfred F. Lichtenstein (born the August 6th 1876 with New York - died the February 24th 1947 in New York) is one of most famous the philatelists states-unien.
Biography
Its collections of stamps were most complete known for the traditional time (stamps emitted before 1900), with a passion for the emissions of before 1870. They in particular related to the Canadian provinces and the Confédération of Canada, the Suisse, the Colonie of the Cape, Ceylon, the Gambia, Maurice, the Argentine and the Uruguay. For the postal history of the United States, its collection is a reference for stampings in the West of the country.Active member of the Collectors Club off New York , Theodore Steinway and allowed him the development of this association.
International judge during three decades, he is the police chief of the international philatelic exposures of 1913 and New York in 1926 and 1936. When he dies, he prepared the opening of the Centenary International Stamp Exhibition (Cipex) of 1947.
In March 1945 with New York, Theodore Steinway, several philatelists and found to him the Philatelic Foundation , education institution with nonlucrative goal which is given for goal of work of expertise, research and philatelic publications. His/her daughter Louise Boyd Paves continuous to support it after her death.
Its collections and those of his/her daughter were dispersed by the house with the biddings Harmer' S between 1968 and 1971,1989 and 1992 and in 1997.

In 1927, it signs off the Roll Distinguished Philatelists , principal British philatelic distinction.In 1948, the American Philatelic Society includes it in its Hall off Famed , list of the most important philatelists deceased.
In 1952, the Collectors Club off New York creates an annual price, the Alfred F. Lichtenstein Memorial Award for Distinguished Service to Philately , to reward an actor deserving for philately. Theodore Steinway was the preceded first. In 1996, this club names it most remarkable philatelists of the country for first half of the XXe century ( the Outstanding American Philatelist ).
