Alfred Leon Gérault-Richard

Alfred Leon Gérault , known under the name of Gérault-Richard (1860 - 1911), was a Journaliste and Politician socialist French.

He was born on October 11th, 1860 born with Bonnétable (the Sarthe) from a family of peasants.

He started as carpenter, initially with the Mans, then with Paris (1880), where its country songs and Socialists were worth to him a certain reputation in the district of Montmartre. Prosper-Olivier Lissagaray, the Communard, offered a station with to him the Battle , and he became a regular contributor of the newspapers progressists, in particular with the Small Republic , of which he became editor association in 1897.

In 1893, it founded Chambard , and was imprisoned during one year (1894) because of a personal attack against the president Jean Casimir-Perier. In January 1895, it was elected appointed socialist of the XIII {{E}} district of Paris. Gérault-Richard was beaten with the elections of 1898 in Paris, but was re-elected twice (1902 - 1906 and 1906 - 1911) in Guadeloupe.

He dies on December 7th, 1911 with Fréjus.

Gérault-Richard is one of the writers of the Histoire Socialist 1789-1900 , under the direction of Jean Jaurès (Éditions Deck house).
