Alfred James Ewart

Alfred James Ewart is a British Botaniste , born the February 12th 1872 with Liverpool and dead the September 12th 1937 with Melbourne.

He is the son of Emund Brown Ewart and Martha born Williams. He makes his studies in Liverpool and obtains his Bachelor off Sciences with London in 1893 then his doctorate at the university of Leipzig in 1896.

He joined the university of Birmingham in 1897 where he teaches the Botanique and the vegetable Physiologie. Ewart Marie in 1898 with Florence Maud Donaldson. Of 1905 with 1921, he is botanist attached to the government of Melbourne. It remarie in 1931 with Elizabeth Bilton.

He is in particular the author of:

  • The Physics and Physiology off Protoplasmic Streaming in Seedlings (1903).
  • has off Handbook Forest Trees for Victorian Foresters (1925).
  • It translates the work of Wilhelm Friedrich Philipp Pfeffer (1845-1920) on vegetable physiology.
