Alfred Grosser

Alfred Grosser is an political economist, Sociologue and French historian of German origin born in 1925 with Francfort-sur-le-Main.

Biography

Taken refuge in France with its family since 1933, it loses his father the following year. It settles definitively in France, made there its studies, passing the German aggregation in particular and beginning a thesis under the direction of Edmond Vermeil, but it breaks with the germanistic traditional one to turn to the Political science as from 1955. He teaches then with the Institut of political studies of Paris, where he was professor, then professor emeritus. He is research director with the national Fondation of political sciences, of 1956 to 1992. He also taught with the Polytechnic school of 1965 to 1995, with the École of the high commercial studies (HEC) of 1961 to 1966 and 1986 to 1988, with the Université Stanford of 1964 to 1965, at the university John Hopkins of 1955 to 1969, at the Keio university of Tokyo in 1992, like with Singapore in 1994.

He was political chronicler with the Monde of 1965 to 1994. He very regularly occupies the same function with the Cross and with Ouest-France since 1994. Its work and its teaching exerted a great influence, in particular for the reconciliation and the Franco-German co-operation.
