Alfred Gerard
Alfred Gerard , born with Rheims the March 23rd 1837 and is deceased there the March 19th 1915, was a Industrie L French.
It was one of the first French to be established with the Japan. Founder of the agricultural Cercle rémois and a very rich agricultural library, which was with 15, rue Chanzy, the site of its native house, it made gift with the Musée of the Art schools, in 1891, of a collection of objets d'art Japanese joined together during its stay with Yokohama of 1863 to 1878. In 1897, a new gift of Alfred Gerard supplemented this collection which constituted with it only an ethnographic museum of more than 700 parts, of which some of very great value. It is not unfortunately visible any more today and is in the reserves of the Musée Saint-Remi. Alfred Gerard, dead unmarried, rests with Bezannes under the original Japanese monument which it made build.
