Alfred Ormonde Edwards is one of the cofounders with Herbert Kilpin of the AC Milan ( Milan Cricket and Football Club ) in 1899.

Expatriate English in Italy, this engineer and industrialist who made fortune while working for Pirelli was British vice-consul with Milan and one of the influential characters of his time in the Milanese company.

He becomes the first president of the club of the AC Milan, whose he finances creation, between 1899 and 1908 and will see his club being essential on three resumptions in championship of Italy (1901, 1906 and 1907). In 1900, it makes it possible the club to be affiliated to the Fédération of Italy of football. In 1909, it leaves the reindeers of AC Milan in Piero Pirelli after one short period of interim of Giannino Camperio.

It is in its honor that the club preserved the orthography and the English pronunciation of “Milan” instead of the Italian name of “Milano” .
