Alfred Cornu

Alfred Cornu , born with Orleans the March 6th 1841 and died in Romorantin the April 11th 1902, is a Physicien French.

Graduate of the Polytechnic school, Alfred Cornu is known especially for his work on the Diffraction of the Lumière. One owes him also the Spirale of Horned, sometimes called clothoid .

He succeeds in 1867 Emile Verdet the pulpit of physics of the Polytechnic school. In 1878, it is elected member of the Academy of Science, of which he is president in 1896.

Alfred Cornu is the father-in-law of Louis de Launay.
