Alfred Büchi
Alfred Büchi (July 11th 1879 with Winterthour - October 27th 1959 with Winterthour) was a Engineer Suisse.
He is regarded today as the inventor of the Turbocompresseur for diesel engine, whose patent was delivered to him in 1905. Büchi had noticed that the traditional Moteur thermal had a poor output, two thirds of energy being lost in the form of heat in exhaust fumes. It had the idea to use the energy of exhaust fumes (kinetic energy and heat) to put in rotation a Turbine. This turbine involves a compressing which compresses the aspired air. In 1925, it improved the output of an engine of more than 40% thanks to this method. In 1938, the federal Polytechnic school of Zurich decreed to him the title of doctor Honoris causa. It was also Conseiller national, member of the Alliance of Independent the, at the time of the legislature of 1939 with 1943.
