  • the saljûqide Sanjar, captured by the invaders Oghuz who plunder the cities of the Khorasan (1153) succeeds in being released. He dies the following year.
  • Cyprus is put at bag by Renaud de Châtillon, prince of Antioche.

    • Renaud de Châtillon, pretexting the refusal of the basileus Manual Ier Comnène to pay him a promised sum, decides to launch a raid against the Byzantine island of Cyprus. In front of the refusal of the patriarch of Antioche to finance forwarding, it throws it in prison, the fact of torturing, then after having coated its honey wounds, connected it and exposed to the sun with the catches with thousands of insects.   • December 25th:
