Cyprus is put at bag by Renaud de Châtillon, prince of Antioche.
- Renaud de Châtillon, pretexting the refusal of the basileus Manual Ier Comnène to pay him a promised sum, decides to launch a raid against the Byzantine island of Cyprus.
