Alexis Gourvennec , (born the January 1936 with Henvic (Finistere) and dead the February 19th 2007 with Morlaix), was an agricultural trade unionist and French contractor.
Graduate of the National school of agriculture of Angers, trade-union activist, and owner of the one of the largest French porcine breedings, it had made to flow of the agricultural produce his war-horse.
He impelled thus at 25 years, the creation of the SICA (Société of agricultural collective interest) of the Pays of Leon, in 1961. In 1968, it is also one of the spearheads of a public policy of opening-up of Finistere. This policy comprised in particular the development of the highway network, and the construction of a deep water port with Roscoff, making it possible to give to the farmers North Finistere the maritime means to export their production on other side of the English Channel.
To serve this port which no company wished, it launches the company Brittany Ferries in 1972, of which 65 % of the capital were held by Agriculteur S. This company thrived to become the first French maritime company on the passenger traffic and freight, with 8 boats and 2500 employees for a turnover of approximately 365 million euros.
In 1979, it assumes the chairmanship of the regional Case of the Agricultural credit of Finistere
