Alexeï Zhitnik (in and in) (born the October 10th 1972 with Kiev in the USSR (today in Ukraine)) is a Russian professional player of Hockey evolving/moving at the station of defender.
It makes its beginnings in LNH the October 6th 1992 against the Flames of Calgary and collects its first not this day. Last nine days later, the October 15th, it registers its first goal against these same Flames. Its first season in the LNH devotes it second better defender recruit with 48 points, gaining, in company of Darryl Sydor, the title of better recruit of Kings. It takes a big part in successes of Kings this year in eliminatory Série, registering 12 points of 24 matches, when those fall only finally against the Canadian of Montreal.
After a second season with Kings of Wayne Gretzky, it is exchanged with the Sabers of Buffalo the February 14th 1995 in company of Robb Stauber, Charlie Huddy and a choice of fishing out against Grant Fuhr, Denis Tsygurov and Philippe Boucher. It becomes a showpiece of the team with whom it records personal records of 15 goals, 3 goals in numerical inferiority and a differential of +19 at the time of the season 1997-98 where it also carries out the team with 30 assistances. With the Sabers, he plays a new final, still lost, in 1999, season when he plays his first match of the stars. Although the Sabers finish last North-eastern division during the season 2001-02, he plays his second match of the stars in February 2002. There remains related to the Sabers until the Lock-out of the season 2004-05 where he turns over to play in Russia with the Ak Bars Kazan.
The following season, it signs a four year old contract with the Islanders of New York. Although missing 18 matches because of a fracture of ankle, it finishes second better striker of the defenders of the team.
The December 16th 2006, in order to reduce their wage bill, Islanders exchange it with the Flyers of Philadelphia against Freddy Meyer and a conditional choice of third round of fishing out. The February 20th 2007, he becomes the eighth nonNorth-American defender and the first born in the ex the USSR to play its 1000e match of LNH. These predecessors were Nicklas Lidstrom, Borje Salming, Calle Johansson, Ulf Samuelsson, Fredrik Olausson (all Swedish), Petr Svoboda Czech Republic and Teppo Numminen (Finland). Four days later, the February 24th, it is again exchanged, this time at the Thrashers of Atlanta which need experiment in eliminatory series, against Braydon Coburn.
