Alexandre de Malonne

Alexandre de Malonne (? - March 9th 1156), in Polish Aleksander Z Malonne , was bishop Płock of 1129 with 1156.
Alexandre arrived in Poland coming from Malonne, close to Namur. He was accompanied by his young brother Wauthier who became bishop of Wrocław.
Humanistic, Alexandre de Malonne remained in the history like Mécène of the Art S and builder of churches. It made build a Cathédrale in Płock (1130 - 1144) and carries S monumental which lead to it (1152 - 1154). They are masterpieces of the Romanesque art in Poland. It also founded a Cloître with Czerwińsk where it installed Regular Chanoines of Lateran.
