Alexandre Trauner
Alexandre Trauner , born the August 3rd 1906 with Budapest (Hungary), died in Omonville-the-Small the December 5th 1993, is a decorator of Cinéma.
After studies of painting at the School of the fine arts of Budapest, he emigrates in 1929 with Paris, where he becomes the assistant of the decorator Lazare Meerson ( With us freedom of Rene Clair in 1932, the heroic Village fair of Jacques Feyder in 1935).
Become decorator chief in 1937, it collaborated with the largest realizers. One owes him inter alia the decorations of the majority of films of Marcel Carné ( Drôle of drama , the Quay of the fogs , Hôtel of North , the day rises , the Children of the paradise ), but also those of the Don Giovanni of Joseph Losey, the Man who wanted to be a king John Huston or of Subway of Luc Besson.
For the Roads of the South of Losey, it is its house in the La Hague which was used as decoration.
It accepted the Oscar of the best decoration 1960 (category Noir and white) for the garçonnière of Wilder.
It is buried in the small cemetery of Omonville-the-Small (Handle), at the sides of his friend Jacques Prévert.

" , " Funny of drame" , " The Quay of the brumes" , " The day lève" , " The sun always has raison" , " Visitors of the soir" , " Light of été" , " Children of the paradis" , " Doors of the nuit" , " Unexpected trip " , " The Marie of the port" , " The Island of the children perdus" /" The Fleur of the âge" , " A woman in the nuit" , " The street of the vertus" , " Day of sortie" , " Sylvie and the fantôme" , " Hécatombe" … and the inventory is incomplete! Hungarian Jew, it is in particular thanks to Jacques that it will be able to hide in the mountains close to Tourrettes-on-Wolf and to work in clandestinity during the Occupation. He will be also later the film decorator of Bertrand Tavernier, Luc Besson or Claude Berri, and will also make a brilliant career in the United States at Howard Hawks, Billy Wilder, Joseph Losey, Orson Welles and of autres."
