Alexandre Tharaud
Alexandre Tharaud is a Pianiste French born with Paris the December 9th 1968.
It begins the piano at the five years age with Carmen Taccon-Devenat, a pupil of Marguerite Length. It makes its studies with the Conservatoire of Paris where it gained a first price of piano in the class of Germaine Mounier at the seventeen years age. It improves with Theodor Paraskivesco and receives the councils of Claude Helffer, Leon Fleisher and Nikita Magaloff. In 1987, he is prize winner of the international Contest Maria Canals with Barcelona and, one year later, of the Contest Città di Senigallia in Italy. In 1989, it receives the 2nd price with the international Contest of Munich. Its career develops quickly in Europe then in North America and with the Japan.
To advise musical series in concerts of the National library of France starting from 1997, it grants an important place to the Chamber music which it practices with the Violoniste Pierre Amoyal, the Flûtiste S Philippe Bernold and Welsh Patrick, the Clarinettiste S Michel Portal and Michel Lethiec.
It received several rewards for its recordings of which the Grand Prix of the Académie Charles-Cross-country race for its interpretation of works of Francis Poulenc (1997), then for that of works of Maurice Ravel (2003). Its recording of the Continuations in and ground of Jean-Philippe Rameau was voted by plebiscite by criticism.
Its repertory extends from Jean-Sebastien Bach (his recording of the Italian Concertos refers) with modern (Mauricio Kagel in particular), with a certain predilection for Emmanuel Chabrier and Francis Poulenc. Its recordings at Harmonia Mundi are primarily of the piano music alone and, to a lesser extent, of the Chamber music.
He acknowledges not to have not a piano at his place, preferring to work in friends.
In 2006, it takes part in the equestrian spectacle of Bartabas to the Nuits of Fourvière in Lyon, playing Bach in the middle of the horses. Alexandre Tharaud makes party of these artists who refuse the musical bulk-headings… It interpreted on scene a song of Barbara accompanied to the piano by Bénabar. The song is besides a world which it fascine.
