Alexandre Ier of Yugoslavia or Alexandre II of Serbia , into Serb Cyrillic Александар I Карађорђевић , (Born the December 16th 1888 has Cetinje - Montenegro - assassinated with Marseilles - France - the October 9th 1934) was King of the Royaume of Serb, Croatian and Slovenien the of 1921 with 1929 then Royaume of Yugoslavia of 1929 with 1934.

Family

Alexandre is the second wire of Pierre I {{er}} Karageorgévitch (1844 - 1921), King de Serbie (1903 - 1921), then King of the Royaume of Serb, Croatian and Slovenien the (1918 - 1921). He has a sister, born four years before, Helene, and a two year old brother his elder, Georges, who in the royal tradition, must reach the throne with dead of his father.

He became crown prince to Serbia when his brother Georges renonça with the throne.

Biography

This attitude enabled him to enjoy in France an enormous popularity, especially following the engagements being unrolled in the Balkan Peninsula, where it supported famous “Hairy the East”. It is of this period that was born the leitmotiv from heroic Serbia.

After the armistice of 1918, a new State was born, the Royaume of Serb, Croatian and Slovenien the whose crown is offered to Pierre I {{er}} of Serbia. However, this one is very sick and in impossibility of reigning. Prince Alexandre agrees to carry out regency on February 1st 1918.

The regency which Alexandre practices is relentless. The unit must be done towards and against all, under the Serb domination. Alexandre never forgot that it is Serb above all. The Croats and the Sloveniens realized quickly there. With died of Pierre 1st in 1921, Alexandre becomes in his turn King de Yougoslavie.

He initially imposed a parliamentary mode before rocking, the January 6th 1929, in a royal dictatorial mode. The Kingdom takes the name of Royaume of Yugoslavia.

Meanwhile, on June 8th, 1922, he marries the Marie princess of Romania which gave him three children; Pierre, elder the, born one with Belgrade the September 6th 1923, Tomislav, born with Belgrade the January 19th 1928 and Andrej, born with Village (Slovenia) the June 28th 1929.

October 9th, 1934 at the time of its official visit in France with Marseilles, it is assassinated with the French Minister for the Foreign affairs of the moment: Louis Barthou. The attack was planned by the Croatian terrorist movement Oustachis of Ante Pavelic and was carried out by the revolutionary Organization interior Macedonian. The gunner, Vlado Chernozemski, was beaten with died by furious crowd. The minister was killed accidentally by a French police officer.

Following the assassination of Alexandre, his son Pierre II, eleven years old, succeeded to him. Being too young to reign, the tripartite Council of Regency was set up under the direction of a cousin of the late King, the Prince Paul whose policy quickly became favorable to the forces of the Axis.
