Alexandre Dalton
Alexandre Dalton or D' Alton , born with Brive the April 20th 1776, died with Versailles the March 20th 1859, is a French general of Empire. It is also count d' Empire. It was also used under the Monarchie as July.
Wire of an important manufacturer of Brive, it joint with the volunteers of Corrèze. It entered to the service in the capacity as second lieutenant the September 15th 1791, in the 88e regiment of infantry (above Berwick - Irish) to the service of France, futnommé lieutenant the November 10th of the same year, made the war on the the Low-Rhine since the beginning of the hostilities until the month of ventôse year III, and was with the seat of the Fort of the Rhine.
Assistance-of-camp of the general Hédouville, ordering the Armed with the coasts of Cherbourg, the 17 germinal one (April 6th, 1795), captain with the election, the 7 meadow one (May 26th, 1795), in the 159e half-brigade; it left the Hédouville general in the month of vendémiaire year V to follow the general Lazare Hoche in the forwarding Ireland; then, it went with this last general, in Germany, when it obtained the command of the Armée with Sambre-and-Meuse. After the death of Notch, the third complementary day year V (September 19th, 1797), the Dalton captain turned over near the Hédouville general.
Named major the 29 vendémiaire year VI (October 20th, 1797), it spent this same year with him to Saint-Domingue, from where it returned at the beginning of year VII to make the countryside of Italy in the capacity as assistance-of-camp of the general Square-Saint-Cyr.

In 1816 and 1817, one employed it like general assistant of the inspection of the infantry in military Ve division, and the May 27th 1818 one included/understood it in the organization of the royal body staff.
Lieutenant-general the April 25th 1821 and put of availability, the count Dalton was in charge of an inspection of infantry in 1824 and remained of availability of 1829 with 1830. In 1831, one entrusted to him the command of the troops with Algiers. It returned to France the following year.
Large officer of Legion-in Honneur the April 29th 1833, member of the committee of infantry and cavalry in 1834, and, in 1835 ordering the 2nd military division, the Dalton general was placed within the framework of reserve of the general staff in 1841.
His/her son Alfred Dalton (1815 - 1866) is him also become general. His/her Aimée daughter married Paul de Musset, and inspired the poem the Nights with her brother-in-law, Alfred.
