Alexandre Corréard
Alexandre Corréard , born the October 8th 1788 with Serres (Hautes-Alpes), dead the February 16th 1857 with the Low Cabins (the Seine and marl), engineer (Arts and Métiers), Journalist and Geographer.
June 17th 1816 it embarked aboard frigate the Jellyfish as a Engineer-geographer. July 2nd, 1816, the ship fails on the bench of Arguin off the coasts mauritaniennes.
Corréard was one of the fifteen survivors of the raft of the Jellyfish on which 147 people got. On the famous table of Géricault, he is the man of the principal group which tightens its arm towards the horizon.
Corréard was moreover influential member of the " Knights of Freedom " , clandestine organization whose objective was to proclaim the advent of Napoleon II and to reverse Louis XVIII.
He founds in 1825 " the newspaper of sciences militaires" and in 1828 " The newspaper of Civil engineering, sciences and Arts".
It is interested then in the Railroads and draws the plans of future the Gare of Austerlitz.
He died in 1857, old of sixty-eight years and rests in the cemetery of Avon.
