Reached rickets in its childhood, it kept of it a small size (1,22 m). He was member of the Scriblerus Club.
Its membership of the Freemasonry, established like some by some archivists, remains still discussed. It has for single source the presence of the name of “Alex Pope” on the list of the members of the “Lodge held At the Goat” of London. In its test Alexander Pope and Freemasonry: In Discursive Essay (2003), the historian W.J. Williams prefers speech of association between Pope and freemasons while Cécile Révauger, teaching to the University of Bordeaux III, explains that “the doubt planed on the maconnic membership of Swift and of Pope but never any proof could not be brought”.
