Alexander McCall Smith

Alexander (R.A.A.) Sandy McCall Smith , CBE, FRSE, born on August 24th, 1948 in Rhodesia (today Zimbabwe), is a writer and Juriste of Scottish origin .

He became a very known expert of duty applied to the Médecine and of Bioéthique towards the end of the 20th century, and belonged to British and international committees on these subjects.

He is however especially known for his works of fiction, in particular the series the investigations of My Ramotswe.

Biography

McCall Smith is high with Bulawayo. He moves in Scotland to study the right to the Université of Edinburgh, matter which he then teaches at the university of the Botswana. He goes back then to Edinburgh, where he is law professor applied to medicine at the university.

He became professor emeritus of the Université of Edinburgh. He was president of the Ethics committee of the British Medical Journal until 2002, like vice-president of the Commission on the human genetics of the the United Kingdom and member of the International committee of bioethics to UNESCO.

He is also Basson ist amateur and cofounder of the Really Terrible Orchestrated .
