Alexander Korda

Sir Alexander Korda , also known in France like Alexandre Korda , born the September 16th 1893 in Pusztatúrpásztó (Austria-Hungary, today Hungary) and deceased the January 23rd 1956 with London, is a producing Réalisateur and British, a leader of the industry of British film and the founder of London Films.

Biography

Sandor Korda is born in Pusztatúrpásztó, in the Hungarian part of the empire Austro-Hungarian, where he works as journalist before returning in the cinema world as a producer. He works with Vienna, Berlin, Paris ( Marius ) and Hollywood, becoming director of United Artists. However, it is with the the United Kingdom that it ends up settling, and in 1932 it founds London Films and the studios with Denham which become finally part of the Rank Organization.

Its films are remarkable and it is one of the first to make a noticed use of the color. Among those, Private life of Henry VIII (1932) and Rembrandt (1936), both with Charles Laughton, which also appears in I, Claudius . In 1942, Korda became the first realizer with being anobli. Among his greater successes as a producer, one notes: Four white Feathers (1937), the Robber of Baghdad (1940) and the Third Man (1949).

He is the brother of Zoltan Korda and Vincent Korda.
