Because the the United States attracted many immigrants of a very large variety of country and cultures, it is not surprising that the kitchen of the United States of America is extremely diversified and so difficult to define. In a certain way the American kitchen is a synthesis of the kitchens of the world, a style of kitchen which it borrowed from each one of these commununautés of immigrants. However, the principal contributions are German, Dutch and Irish and these influences endure until our days. It should be noted that the influence of the British kitchen was marginal in the United States; the dishes of English origin, for example, are extremely rare there. The Amerindian kitchen counts also much: the traditional receipts of the Indians of Alabama are preserved and protected like a cultural heritage.
