Alexander Elliot Anderson Salmond (known as Alex) is a Scottish Politician , he becomes chief of the National Parti Scotland in 1990 and for one second time in August 2005.

Life and career

Salmond was born the December 31st 1954 in Linlithgow, close to Edinburgh. It made its studies with the University off St Andrews, where it obtained its diplomas of economy and Histoire. After a career of economist to the Royal Bank off Scotland, he was elected Député with the British House of Commons .

Although he was considered too on the left by the majority of his party, he became chief of the SNP for the first time in 1990. At that time, the SNP had only four deputies at the Parliament, but its great combativeness enabled him to gain more voice.

In 1997, after the election of the Labor government with London, it conducted with its party a campaign for the decentralization of the Parliament. It was a difficult decision, particularly for the fondementalists of the party; but which proved to be paying with final then that three Scot out of four voted for a Parliament decentralized.

In 2000, it created the surprise while renonçant with its seat of leader of the SNP. It was justified by explaining why after ten last years with the head of the party, it wanted to renew the direction.

There remained however the leader of the parliamentary group sitting at Westminster. It was pointed out there for its opposition to the war in Iraq, showing on a virulent tone the Prime Minister Tony Blair of “lie”.

After the resignation of its substitute John Swinney at the post of leader of the SNP, it decided to be represented, and took again the head of the party for the second time in August 2004.

The May 3rd 2007, it is elected appointed Scottish Parlement in the district of Gordon in the north of Aberdeen.

It is the Prime Minister of Scotland.
