Alessandro Turchi known as Orbetto and also Alessandro Veronese (Vérone, 1578 - January 22nd, 1649) is an Italian painter of the school véronaise.

Biography

It is born with Vérone, oldest son of Silvestro, sabot-maker, and of Elisabetta, a family resulting from Illasi, come in Vérone in 1541.

In 1595, the registers note “ Silvester de Turcis cecus mendicans olim spatarius ”. The father, become “orbo”, perhaps following an incident on work, saw alms, accompanied by his son, who is consequently called Orbetto .

In 1597, in the will of a goldsmith véronais it is mentioned “ Messer Alessandro Pittore domestico di Messer Felice Brusasorzi Pittore ”. It becomes aggregate with the Accademia Filarmonica di Verona on its demand for 1609.

In 1634, he becomes First Vice-chancellor of the Accademia di San Luca and in 1637 Principe under the patronage of the cardinal Francesco Barberini.

In 1638, it enters to the Pontificia Accademia dei Virtuosi (the pontifical Academy of Virtuous) to Rome.

In 1640, his/her Cecilia daughter marries the painter Giacinto Gimignani.

In 1648, the gallery of Giovan Pietro Curtoni in Vérone, makes appear several of its paintings among works of the “modern” authors.

He dies on January 22nd, 1649.
