Alessandro Manzoni is an Italian writer born the March 7th 1785 with Milan where he dies the May 23rd 1873.
Officially wire of the count Pietro Manzoni and Giulia Beccaria, itself girl of the author of the Treated offenses and sorrows , Cesare Beccaria, Alessandro Manzoni is undoubtedly the natural son of Giovanni Verri, brother of the writers Pietro and Alessandro Verri.
After the divorce of his/her parents in 1792, Alessandro is entrusted to his/her father who forsakes it. It makes its studies in religious institutions with Lugano, Merate and Milan.
In 1801, it writes a poem the triumph of freedom , where it develops ideas jacobines.
To died from his/her father in 1805 it comes to live with Paris near his/her mother. This one loses his/her lover, Alessandro dedicates to him his poem For the death of Carlo Imbonati . Alessandro attends the Parisian literary living rooms in company of his/her mother.
He marries Henriette Blondel, resulting from a Genevese and Protestant family, in 1808. In 1810, being taken refuge in the church Saint-Roch at the time of a sway in the crowd caused by the explosion of a rocket to the passage of Napoleon i, and thinking of having lost his wife, it finds it in the building. Thinking that it is about a divine sign, he embraces the catholic faith. This same year, it returns to Italy.
He writes his Hymnes between 1812 and 1815. Between 1820 and 1821, Manzoni writes its best drama, Adelchi which it publishes in 1822, inspired by the inversion by Charlemagne of the domination lombarde in Italy, container of allusions veiled to the Austrian occupation of the time. It initially withdraws in 1821 in its residence of Brusuglio where it writes under the influence of Walter Scott his novel been engaged the , under the title of Fermo and Lucia , which will be altered between 1827 and 1842. it composes March 1821 , ode in favor of the Italian unit, and the five May 1821, or the death of the Napoleon emperor in Sainte-Hélène , meditation religious and historical. It remains in Tuscany in 1827.
The end of this long life of writing is saddened by successive mournings. The death of his first wife, Henriette, in 1833 was followed of that of several of his/her children, and his mother. In 1837, it marries in second weddings Teresa Born, widow of the count Stampa, which it was also going to survive. The death of his/her oldest son, Pier Luigi, the April 28th 1873 is the final drama which precipitates its end. He falls ill and dies of a cerebral meningitis the May 23rd 1873.
Italy pays homage to him, its skin is accompanied with the cemetery by Milan, is followed by the royal princes, the officers of State and an immense procession of anonymities. Giuseppe Verdi composed her Requiem with its memory in 1874.
