Alentejo
Alentejo is an area of the Portugal which includes/understands most of the southern half of Portugal.
This area is characterized by the mixture of the cultures Roman and Arabic as well as more recent testimonys of Christianity.
In the North-East the cities and typical villages of the Road of the Castles are: Nisa, Castelo de Vide, Marvao, Portalegre (fame for its Tapestry S) and Alter-C-Chao. While going towards the south, the landscape is more arid. In the surroundings of Evora (one of the most beautiful cities of the Portugal, registered with the world heritage of UNESCO), it is necessary to visit Monsaraz, Vila Viçosa, Estremos (careers of Marbre) and Arraiolos (famous for its famous Tapi S woven with the hand). More in the south, one notices plantations of olive-tree S, of Chêne S greens as well as water levels sought by the amateurs of water sports.
Alvito, Beja (old Roman city which became a Moslem arts center), Serpa and Mértola are places which deserves a visit. In south-west, the coastal strip attracts the visitors thanks to her splendid beaches of which some still wild. Alentejo is an area considered for its rural and ecological tourism.
