Alexandre Danilovitch Alexandrov (In Cyrillic: АлександрДаниловичАлександров ) (August 4th 1912 - July 27th 1999) was a Mathématicien, a Physicien, a Philosophe and a Russian mountaineer .

Scientific career

Alexandrov leaves graduate the department of physics of the university of Leningrad. Its professors were Vladimir Fock, a physicist and Boris Delaunay, a mathematician. In 1933, it worked for the institute of optics of State and it gave to the same time of the courses at the departments of mathematics and mechanics of the University. It finished its Doctorat in 1935 at the University and then later, in 1937, its thesis of doctorate in science ( D.Sc. ).

Appointed vice-chancellor of the university in 1952, Alexandrov remained at this station until in 1964. In 1946, he became associated member, then in 1964, full member of the Academy of Science of the USSR . Starting from 1975, he was also member of the Italian academy national .

Of 1964 with 1986 it lived with Novosibirsk, directing the laboratory of Géométrie of the Institute of Mathématiques of the Siberian branch of the Academy of Science of the USSR.
