Aleksa Janković
Aleksa Janković , in Serb Cyrillic АлексаЈанковић (born in 1806 with Timişoara - died with Belgrade the June 22nd 1869), was a Serb Politician . He was Minister and Représentant of the Prince, at one moment when the Serbia constituted an autonomous principality inside the Ottoman Empire.
Aleksa Janković followed its secondary studies to Timişoara, which then formed part of the possessions of the Habsbourgs. Then he studied the right to Budapest.
In 1834, arrived in Serbia, it entered to the Office of Prince Miloš Ier Obrenović.
In 1838, it turned over to Austria to complete its édudes of right.
In 1839, it again formed part of the Office of the Prince. He became the director in about it 1842.
The come to power of the dynasty of the Karađorđević, in the person of the prince Alexandre, accelerated the career of Aleksa Janković. From November 1842 at August 1843, he was Foreign Minister, then in 1847 and 1848 Ministre for Justice. He was again Foreign Minister in 1852 and, starting from 1854, Ministre for Education.
December 28th 1855 with the June 10th 1856, he was the Representative of the Prince, i.e. the equivalent of a Prime Minister. He exerted at the same time the function of Foreign Minister.
But in 1858, the prince Alexandre Karađorđević was constrained to abdicate. Old prince Miloš, who also had had to him to abdicate in 1839 was recalled to the capacity. Aleksa Janković had to leave the Council, which marked the end of its political career.
Starting from 1864, Aleksa Janković was member honorary of the Learned society of Serbia, which was going to become, thanks to the king Milan Ier, the Serb Académie of Sciences and Arts.
