Alejandro Lerroux García (March 4th 1864 - June 25th 1949) was a Journaliste and a Spanish Politician , leader of the radical party during the second republic and chief of the government of 1933 with 1935.

Alejandro Lerroux was born the March 4th 1864 with Rambla, Cordoue. In its youth, it begins its political career at the side of the radical republicans of Ruiz Zorrilla, and makes known its opinions in various periodicals of which he was the director (El País, El Progreso, El Intransigente and El Radical).

Its speeches anticlericals are then qualified the populist ones but its popularity is real in particular in the working class of Barcelona.

In 1901, it elected is appointed, re-elected in 1903 and 1905 under the label of the republican Union which it founded with Nicolás Salmerón.

In 1906, the defection of Salmerón towards the Catalan nationalists leads Lerroux to create in 1908 the republican Radical party and to face the Catalan nationalists in full rise. It is constrained with the exile on several occasions, to escape judgments pronounced against its articles or after terrible repression to 1909 in Barcelona.

In 1910, it joined socialist republican alliance and is elected appointed. Implied thereafter in various scandals, it loses of sound will have in the electorate inhabitant of Barcelona.

After the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera (1923-1930), it takes part in the revolutionary committees which will obtain the fall of the Monarchie and of the king Alphonse XIII and the proclamation of the republic in 1931.

It takes part in a left coalition in support for the reforms of Manuel Azaña (1931-1933), of which he becomes the minister of state in 1931.

The November 19th 1933, Lerroux is chosen by the president of the republic to take the direction of the government after the victory of the YIELDED Jose María Gil-Robles.

Of 1933 with 1935, it directs a radical government which will comprise a minority of ministers resulting from YIELDED. It is the government of Lerroux which thus will invite the Général to free restore the order in the Asturies in 1934.

Implied in 1935 in a scandal of black-market, its alliance with the line is broken.

With the elections of February 1936, it is not re-elected and when the Guerre of Spain bursts in July, it prefers to be exiled with the Portugal. It returns to Spain in 1947 and dies with Madrid the June 25th 1949.
