Alejandro Amenabar is a Réalisateur, Scénariste, writer, Monteur, Acteur, producing and Spanish Compositeur born the March 31st 1972 with Santiago of Chile.

Biography

It was born from a Spanish mother , and from a Chilean father . One year after, his/her parents must flee the country because of the terrible coup d'etat of Pinochet for the Spain. It grows with Madrid, where it studied with the Faculty of Science. But it gave up, and was dedicated to its greater passion: the Cinema. At the 19 years age, it will carry out its first short film then: the cabeza. It will gain finally a true business success with Tesis in 1996. This film will open the festival of the Bears, the Festival of Berlin, and will gain at side seven Goyas, of which that of best film, scenario and realizer.

In 1997 it carries out Abre los ojos, a science fiction film and psychological intrigue which was greeted by a very good critic in the international festivals of Berlin and Tokyo. Impressed by film, Tom Cruise acquired the rights of adaptation and produces a remake in which he will play the main role: Vanilla Sky . These is the remake which will make speak about the young realizer on the side of Hollywood.
