Aleatory contract in French civil law

The aleatory contract , defines in the article of the Civil code, is a Contrat subject to payment in which the existence or the value of a service depends on the realization of a dubious future event. He is opposed to the Commutative contract. The risk accepted excluded the possibility for part of of calling upon the lesion.

Some examples of aleatory contracts:

  • contract of Insurance,
  • contract of play and bet,
  • contract of life annuity.
