Aldine Taqi Mohammed ibn Ma' ruf Al-Shami Al-Asadi (Arab: rear RTL تقيالدينمحمدبنمعروفالشاميالسعدي) (born with Damas or the Cairo in 1526, died with Istanbul in 1585) was an Arab scientist important. He is the author of several texts on the Astronomie, the Astrologie, the mechanical optics and the mechanical clocks.
Aldine Taqi was born in Egypt or in Syria at the 16th century, it follows its studies to Cairo to Egypt. During a few years it was Théologien, and writes several books on the Islam. In 1571, it settles with Istanbul and becomes the official astronomer of the Othoman sultan Selim II. After the death of Selim II, Aldine Taqi manages to persuade the new sultan Murad III of the interest of the construction of new a observatory in Istanbul. The observatory is open in 1577, the goal is to compete with the observatories of the other European countries, especially the observatory Danish directed by Tycho Brahé.
Al-Din sees a Comet, and he thinks that it predicts a future victory of the Othoman army. This forecast was false, which put the Murad sultan in anger. The observatory is thus destroyed in 1580.
It carries out of another research, one of its books, Kitâb Al-Turuq Al-saniyya fi Al-alat Al-ruhaniyya (Book of the accomplished methods about the machines of the spirit) falls under the Arab mechanical tradition. It described the operation of an Engine steam there rudimentary.
