Aldegonde de Maubeuge

Sainte Aldegonde de Maubeuge (in Latin Adelgundis ) was born with Cousolre towards 630.

It was the girl of Walbert ( Waldebertus ), regent of Clotaire II in the area of the Sambre and the Meuse, and of Bertille ( Bertilla ) of Thuringe. His/her sister was Sainte Waudru. She escaped from the native house and converts with Christianity under Saint Amand.

In 661 it founded the mixed cloister of Maubeuge, of which it became the first abbess.

Aldetrude ( Adeltrudis ), then Madelberte, his/her nieces, succeeded to him.
