Alcinoos
In the Greek Mythology, Alcinoos (in Greek old Ἀλκίνοος / Alkínoos ) is the son of Nausithoos and the king of mythical the Phéaciens.
Alcinoos marries his/her niece Arété, girl of her brother Rhexénor. It has of them five wire and a girl, Nausicaa.
It accommodates the Argonautes which flee of Colchide. On their arrival, it orders that if Médée is still virgin, she must turn over towards her father. Jason and Médée will consume their marriage quickly.
It accommodates also Ulysses shipwrecked man which will tell his adventures to him and, in spite of the threats of Poséidon, Alcinoos will help it to set out again. Poséidon will transform the new ship of Ulysses into rock and will thus stop the port of Phéaciens of a mountain.
Alcinoos was the subject of a heroic worship in the town of Corcyre (one of the two ports of the city bearing its name besides).
