Alcatel Space

was one of the world leaders in the construction of Artificial satellite.

was born in 1998 by fusion from the space activities from the entity Alcatel Espace Alcatel, manufacturing mainly payloads of telecommunications satellites, with the satellite activities of aerospatiale, supplier of the platforms Spacebus and Proteus and with the space activities of Thalès (Thomson-CSF), to create the company Alcatel Space Industries (ASI) subsidiary of Alcatel (51%) and Thalès (49%). In 2001, after repurchase of the shares of Thalès, Alcatel Space Industries becomes again subsidiary to 100% of Alcatel.

In 2005, it amalgamated with Italian space industry and became Alcatel Alenia Space whose operational seat was established with the Space center of Cannes Mandelieu.

Leaders

Training of young people

Alcatel Space was implied in the training of young people to the space techniques. In 1998, taking again the satellite activities of aerospatiale in Cannes, it continued the engaged activity with the Association PARSEC. Its chairman, Jean-Claude Husson, resigned, on June 23rd, 2001, at the time of the Paris airshow, partnership convention.
