Albugnano superiore

The Albugnano superiore is an Italian red wine of the area Piedmont equipped with a name DOC. since May 6th, 1997. Only to DOC. the wines collected inside the surface of production defined by the decree are entitled. The authorized vineyards are located at the extreme North-West of the Province of Silk in the communes of Albugnano, Pino d' Asti, Castelnuovo Don Bosco and Passerano Marmorito.

The wine must be subjected to an ageing of at least a year (as from January first following the year of production of the grapes), including at least six month out of barrels of oak. (see also the article Albugnano rosso)

Organoleptic characteristics

  • color : more or less intense red ruby, sometimes with reflections garnet.
  • odor : end, characteristic, sometimes vinous
  • savor : of dryness to marrowy, slightly vigorous, more or less tannic, length in mouth, sometimes sharp.
