This club joined the J. League in 1999. Since 2004, Albirex Niigata selected a selection of player coming from his sattellite team in the Championship of Singapore of football, called Albirex Niigata Singapore . Albirex Niigata has also a female selection which reached the second division of the female championship in 2004.
