Albert de Strzelce

Albert de Strzelce (in Polish Albert Strzelecki ), from the Dynasty of the Piasts, was born after the year 1300 and died between 1366 and 1375.

Titles

Of 1313 with 1323, Albert and his brother Bolko are Duc S of Opole and Strzelce. Starting from 1323, Albert controls only the Duché of Strzelce. In 1327, it becomes a Vassal of the Bohemia.

Biography

Albert is the son junior by the duke Bolko Ier d' Opole and by Agnes. When his/her father dies in 1313, it is too young to reign and it finds under the protection of his brother Boleslas Elder the. This one ensures the Régence on the territories of Opole and Strzelce which must return to his/her young brothers. When Albert is declared major, it obtains its own share of the paternal heritage and becomes the duke of Strzelce in 1323.

Large-thing of his reign is not known. In 1326, it gives the urban Privilège S to Strzelce Opolskie, the capital of its duchy. In 1327, it becomes the Vassal of Jean of Luxembourg, but it does not return to him Hommage to Opava at the same time as the other dukes of High-Silesia.

It is very close to the Monastère Cistercien S of Jemielnica (founded by his/her father) which it supports financially. In 1347, it marries Agnès, the girl of Burchard Ier, the Burgrave of Magdeburg.

Death and succession

The date of its death is unknown. The last historical mention of Albert goes back to 1366. It is buried with the monastery of Jemielnica where its portrait was preserved until our days.

Of its marriage with Agnes, it had a girl (Élizabeth) who became the woman of Ladislas the White. It is its nephew Bolko III of Opole which inherits the duchy of Strzelce.
