The events of the Common of Paris (1871), with repressions which it involved, made him measure the ditch which separated the working class from liberalism dominating. It founded the working Cercles then with Rene of the Tower of the Pine, Felix de Roquefeuil and Maurice Maignen. It wished to contribute in this way to the rechristianisation of the people and the defense of his material and moral interests: the work of the circles counted in 1878 375 circles, 37.500 workmen, and 7.600 members of the leading classes.
In 1881, it is one of the founders of the review the catholic Association .
It joined the Republic in the wake of the positions of Leon XIII and of the social Doctrine of the Church. In this context, it continued to defend vigorously the catholic Foi . During its parliamentary, uninterrupted activity of 1876 to 1902, it contributed to the development of almost all the social laws of the IIIe République. In 1901, it was with Jacques Piou one of the founders of popular liberal Action, the political party of the catholics rejoined with the Republic.
He is elected with the French Academy with the first turn on April 1st 1897.
In 1909, Albert de Mun gave an opinion against the French Action, while wishing to publish an article in the Universe , entitled “Go down in the street”.
