Albert de Broglie

Jacques Victor Albert, duke of Broglie (June 13rd 1821 with Paris - January 19th 1901), wire of Achilles Victor, duke of Broglie, is a historian, diplomat and statesman French monarchist and orleanist.

Embassy secretary to Madrid and Rome, under the reign of Louis-Philippe I {{er}}, it leaves his station in 1848 and abstains from any political activity under the Second Empire. Appointed the Eure in 1871, it is named ambassador with London. It is also one of the figures of the liberal Catholicisme.

Chief of the government of the “moral Order” in 1873 - 1874, then in 1877, it vainly endeavors to preserve the dynastic rights of the Orleans. He is senator until in 1885. Member of the French Academy, like his/her father, and member of the Academy of Science morals and political, it leaves Mémoires and important historical studies.

He is President of the Council during the crisis of May 16th 1877 and makes the expenses of the “Proclamation of the 363” which will involve the dissolution of the Parliament and the end of her council.

His/her oldest son is Victor de Broglie (1846-1906).
