Albert Vanhoye

Albert Vanhoye (born the July 24th 1923 with Northern Hazebrouck, , France) is a Jésuite French, professor emeritus of Scriptures with the biblical Institut pontifical of Rome, and made cardinal of the Eglise by Benoit XVI on April 24th 2006.

Youth and Formation
At the end of his humanities to the small seminar of Hazebrouck (1934-41) Albert Vanhoye entered the Society of Jesus in 1941. After a license of traditional letters, studies of Philosophy Scholastic with Valleys-near-the-Puy, then of theology with Enghien (Belgium) it was ordered priest the July 25th 1954 with Enghien. Sent to Rome for a license in Scriptures it also made a Doctorat there on the composition of the Lettre to the Hebrews
Teaching and Research
Vanhoye taught initially with the theological college Jesuit of Chantilly, but it was quickly destined for Rome where it taught of 1963 to 1998, when it was allowed with the éméritat. In addition to teaching it directed 29 theses of doctorate. It specialized in the Exégèse of the Lettre to the Hebrews of which it became one of the largest world experts. He was also Doyen of biblical faculty (1969-75), director of the review Biblica (1978-84), Recteur of the pontifical biblical Institut of Rome (1984-1990). Since 1980 it directs the collection of biblical monographs Analecta Biblica .
Cardinal
Benoît XVI named it cardinal the February 22nd 2006 and created at the time of the consistory of the April 24th 2006. It obtained from the pope the exemption to be ordered bishop. It seems well that they are the noticed active participation and the contributions of Vanhoye to work of the biblical commission pontifical which drew the attention of that which was then the cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. Become the pope Benoit XVI this last wanted to express the recognition of the Church for completed work, and consequently to give opportunity a greater weight and visibility to the great competence of Albert Vanhoye out of biblical matter.
