Albert Mirot

Albert Mirot is an archivist and French historian, born with Bièvres the October 12th 1902 and died in Paris the April 10th 1984.

The archivist

Born in a family from archivists and chartists, Albert Mirot follows the way of his fathers. He obtains a license be-letters then between with the École of the charters, where he writes a thesis on the constant political life of Tanguy of Chastel in 1926.

As of 1927, it joined the Public records, where it makes all its career. Initially archivist with the service of the modern files, one entrusts then administrative tasks to him (chief of the service of the training courses…).
De 1961 with its retirement in 1972, he is the conservative as an old section head.

The historian

Its work of historian is well provided, including/understanding inter alia many articles in scientific magazines. It largely took part itself in the animation of these reviews and several learned societies, becoming in particular secretary of the Company of the École of the charters, member of the Council of the Société of the French history, president of the Company of the history of Paris and the Ile-de-France, etc.
It is however especially known for its handbook of historical geography, written in collaboration with his father.
