Albert II , prince of Monaco , was the subject of postage stamps of Monaco as from 1963. Since November 19th, 2005, it is represented on principal the series of everyday usage.

Hereditary prince

In 1963, at the time of the adoption of a Charter of the children by the the United Nations, a series of 8 stamps is emitted, of which one represents Albert and his older sister Caroline surrounded by pinks. The stamp is drawn by Pierrette Lambert and is engraved by Rene Cottet.

In 1979, for its blackjacks years, is emitted a block-layer of a stamp to its effigy drawn and engraved by Czesław Słania, which worked much on the stamp-portraits of Rainier III, father and predecessor of Albert II.

From 1981 to 1988, on postage stamps and of Airmail drawn and engraved by Czesław Słania, its portrait appears in the background of the series of everyday usage beside his/her Rainier III father.

Like his two sisters, Caroline and Stéphanie, it is represented punctually on emissions which point out events or the role of associations Monegasques of which he is the president. In April 1995, at the time of the Festival of television, it is represented on a stamp of 8 francs always drawn and engraved by Słania. In March 1998, it is reproduced on the original stamp of S. Carpenter for the fiftieth anniversary of the Croix-Rouge Monegasque in the sides of his father, his mother Grace Kelly and her great-grandfather, the prince Louis II.

Rainier III and Albert II are represented in medallion on a stamp of 2001 announcing the 36e International commission for the scientific exploration of the Mediterranean.

Albert II is present on the last emission of stamps representing Rainier III of alive sound, emitted on December 3rd, 2004. It is about a triptych engraved by Martin Mörck. The central stamp represents the palate of Monaco drawn by Patrice Merot and that of left a portrait of Rainier by Słania. The stamp of left represents Albert II drawn by Merot.

Reigning prince

Commemorative stamps

December 1st, is emitted the first illustrated block commemorative of a photograph in official costume of the prince Albert II, taken by Gaetan Luci. As during the reign of his/her father, this block carries the weapons of Monaco and the monogram of the prince. Of a value of 6 € for the block and 0,60 € for the stamp of sheet, the emission coincides with the philatelic Exposition of prestige MonacoPhil 2006.

Series of everyday usage

The first stamps representing Albert II as a reigning prince are emitted the November 19th, 2005 at the time of the ceremonies of establishment, seven months after the death of Rainier III, the previous on April 6th. Drawn by Corrosive Thierry and engraved by Martin Mörck, these three stamps of everyday usage show the prince of face, in costume of city.

December 1st, 2006, this series is replaced by a right profile of the prince in costume of city within a black framework. The three stamps are drawn by Guéorgui Chichkine and again engraved by Martin Mörck.
