Biography

prince Albert Grimaldi (Albert, Alexandre, Louis, Pierre Grimaldi) is born the March 14th 1958 with the Palais from Monaco from the prince Rainier III from Monaco and from the princess Grâce from Monaco (of American origin , born Grace Kelly). It has an older sister the Caroline princess of Monaco (princess of Hanover by marriage with the prince Ernest-Auguste of Hanover) and a younger sister the Stéphanie princess by Monaco. It has for godfather the prince Louis de Polignac and as a godmother the queen Victoria-Eugenie of Spain

Albert of Monaco makes his secondary studies with the college Albert I {{er}} of Monaco and passes his baccalaureat in June 1976.

He carries out then a formation of raise-officer to the French Naval college on board the Porte-hélicoptères Jeanne d' Arc as a Enseigne of vessel of second class of the tallies of reserve of the French Marine.

It created the Fédération Monegasque of Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton of which he is president

Prince Albert is member of the International Olympic committee since 1985 and chair Fédération Monegasque of Swimming since 1983, of the Yacht Club of Monaco since 1984, of the Fédération Monegasque of Athletics since 1984, of the Olympic committee Monegasque since 1994 and of the Fédération Modern Monegasque of Pentathlon since 1999

In the Military field, it is named the November 11th 1986 Colonel of the company of the police officers of Monaco, the August 18th 1988, Lieutenant of reserve in the body of the officers of French Marine. It is also godfather of the Patrouille of France since 1993

Prince Albert is member of the support group of the Worldwide organization of protection of nature (WWF-France), president of the Steering Committee of the International festival of Television of Monte Carlo and honorary president of Association Monaco Aide and Presence, of the Jeune Economic room of Monaco, of the Association of the Friends of the Opéra of Monte Carlo and the National committee Monegasque of the International association of the Visual arts of UNESCO…

During the admission of the principality of Monaco to UNO in 1993, his/her father appoints it president of the delegation Monegasque to the General meeting of the United Nations, organized each year in September with New York. Prince Albert is also member of honor of the International institute of Humanitarian right and Honorary doctor in Philosophie of the National university of Ireland de Maynooth in Ireland

Since the end of the Years 1980 beginning of the Years 1990, Prince Rainier III entrusted a progressive role to him growing in the administration and the life of the Principality of Monaco with a culminating point the October 5th 2004 where Albert represents Monaco at the time of the ceremony of adhesion of the principality to the the Council of Europe.

He inherited the throne the April 6th 2005 at the time of the death of his father, the prince Rainier III of Monaco, the continuations of a long hospitalization in a great state of general weakness.

During his first year of reign, prince Albert carried out, after the three months of mourning of the Court, of the visits of courtesy in France, Italy and to the the Vatican. The Climate changes, the Biodiversity and the Eau will be the three fields of action of this foundation. Concretely, the first projects of the Albert II de Monaco Foundation should take shape with the beginning of the year 2007.
