Albert Edelfelt
Albert Edelfelt , born in 1854 with Kiiala and died in 1905 with Haikko, was a painter Finnish of the end of the 19th century.
Biography
Wire of a Swedish architect Albert Edelfelt follows the courses of drawing of Carl-Eneas Sjöstrand then to the Université Helsinki. He visits the Sweden and meets the painter of history Georg von Rosen former student of Henri Leys. In 1873 it improves with Antwerp during one year or it binds friendship with Emile Claus. In 1874, it leaves for Paris and follows the courses of Jean-Leon Gérôme. Its interest for the Peinture naturalist is growing, at the time of its second stay in 1881, it meets Gustave Courtois and Jules Bastien-Lepage for which it tests a true admiration regarding it as a marvellous colourist; it is then well introduced into the Parisian artistic medium and is often invited to dinners where it meets Emile Zola, Alphonse Daudet or Pierre Puvis de Chavannes and its success will encourage other Finnish artists to come to settle in Paris. Towards the end of the century it will illustrate Finnish patriotic accounts in answer to an always increasing expression come from Russia.
